  • Are You At Risk for Cyber Hacks? Cyber Security Prevention & Survival Tactics | Alan Tacy
As many business leaders and IT specialists know, cyber threats are real! The news is flooded with examples of sophisticated cyber criminals attacking businesses on a constant basis and profiting by holding their victims hostage. If you’re attacked, do you really know what to do about it? Rather than wait for these threats to show up at your doorstep, it’s time to take a proactive approach to defending ourselves before we join the ranks of the victims.
This presentation will provide real world examples of true attacks that victimize real companies, exploitation and the anatomy of a hack and breaking down how these attacks were successful. We will also review what measures need to be in place to prevent these and future threats from happening again. This Cyber Security seminar is your opportunity to learn from other organizations in the Aging Services industry who have learned the hard way; and the right policies and technologies that are essential for protecting against the modern cyber threat.
This presentation covers the critical role of selling in the senior living industry. Using atypical selling behaviors, the participant will learn to develop relationships of trust with both internal and external customers. In addition, effective communication skills will be discussed which again lead to a trust-based relationship. The recent study by George Mason University painted a bleak picture of selling in the senior living industry. Using actual case studies, real world senior living-based stories and illustrative exercises, this presentation is designed to introduce the participant to a completely new way to approach selling in our wonderful industry!

  • Redefining Fall Risk for Persons with Dementia | Tena Alonzo
“Redefining Risk of Falling for Persons with Dementia” identifies the connection between quality of life and fall risk for people who have trouble thinking. Participants will have the opportunity to review current research on the science of fall reduction and explore evidence-based techniques. Creating strategies for discussions with family decision-makers and enhancing organizational systems which promote quality of life as well as personal safety will be discussed.
Mental Health First Aid is a public education program that introduces participants to risk factors and warning signs of mental illnesses, builds understanding of their impact, and overviews common supports. This presentation provides a thorough description of the entire curriculum that can be offered to organizations. Mental Health First Aid demonstrates how to offer initial help in a mental health crisis and connect persons to the appropriate professional, peer, social, and self-help care. The program also teaches the common risk factors and warning signs of specific types of illnesses, like anxiety, depression, substance use, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, and schizophrenia. The population focus will be older adults and issues they face.

Data (public and private) is becoming more prevalent and important in the new landscape of quality, performance and payment. Some data is publicly available while other is private and requested regularly. Both public and private data must be monitored closely and provided efficiently to have success into the future. In this session we will proved examples of data. We will explore the reasoning for the data, how to obtain it and most importantly how to read and interpret it. Focus on CMS data including 5 Star Quality Ratings and Domains, PBJ, Health Surveys and Inspections. We will also explore other sources of data that provides may need to produce in the future.
