This session looks at recognition and employee appreciation through several different lenses. What types of recognition and appreciation do our employees really want to see from leadership? What are the generational preferences of employee recognition and how can we incorporate these into the culture of our community? How can we go beyond the jargon of “employee satisfaction,” and create an atmosphere where individuals overcome challenges and enjoy their work?

This session addresses the increasing operational pressures LPCs are faced with due in large part to wage and inflationary forces driving down profitability margins. We will discuss the importance of “getting back to basics” and doubling-down on core competencies to improve margins, while searching for alternative revenue sources to improve sustainability.

This could be finding ways to access capital to launch new ventures or add enhancing services, or it may be time to cut extra services that were added for occupancy development and are now too costly. During this presentation, revenue enhancing ideas, tools to manage workforce issues, technology solutions, and benchmarking tactics will be introduced and discussed.

This session will also touch on alternative solutions for those organizations that may have a tougher road to reaching sustainability. This includes macro-trends around the broader consolidation taking place in the senior living industry and how this trend can impact organizations differently.

Persons with dementia are two times more likely to fall than those without. Dementia may also be exacerbated following a fall. There is a growing demand for effective fall risk management for those with dementia which should involve interprofessional care. Practical techniques and applications will be examined to support this need.

  • Define interprofessional practice and outline the roles and expectations of key team members in interprofessional fall risk management for persons with dementia.
  • Examine fall risk factors and how dementia impacts those factors.
  • Apply interprofessional approaches to develop meaningful intervention for fall risk management through case examples.
